Fluoride Treatment for Children’s Dental Health

Pediatric Dentist Oak Ridge

At Confident Kids Pediatric Dentistry, we offer fluoride treatment to prevent tooth decay for our patients. According to the ADA, fluoride intake is often recommended for infants and children between the ages of 6 months and 16 years. During this time, primary and permanent teeth are developing.

Fluoride is applied to the teeth in a varnish form using a brush. Fluoride helps by making the tooth more resistant to the build-up of decay-causing plaque and sugars. It can also speed re-mineralization as well as disrupt acid erosion in teeth.

In addition to receiving fluoride treatment at our pediatric dental office, it can be applied to the teeth through fluoridated toothpaste and mouth rinses. Mouth rinses containing fluoride in lower strengths are available over-the-counter. However, stronger mouth rinses can be prescribed as needed. Dr. Timari Schweizer will advise you about your child’s fluoride needs.

We strive to provide your child with the highest quality care, including the use of fluoride. For more information or to request an appointment, contact Confident Kids Pediatric Dentistry.

Strengthens Tooth Enamel

Fluoride treatments help strengthen your child’s tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. This added protection is crucial for preventing cavities and maintaining strong, healthy teeth.

Prevents Cavities

Regular fluoride treatments are highly effective in preventing cavities. The fluoride works to remineralize areas of the tooth enamel that have started to decay, stopping cavities before they form.

Quick and Painless Application

The application of fluoride is a quick and painless process. During a dental visit, Dr. Schweizer will apply a fluoride gel, foam, or varnish to your child’s teeth in just a few minutes, providing immediate benefits without discomfort.

Safe for All Ages

Fluoride treatments are safe and beneficial for children of all ages. They are especially important for children who are still developing good oral hygiene habits, providing an extra layer of protection against tooth decay.

Cost-Effective Preventive Measure

Investing in regular fluoride treatments can save you money in the long run by preventing costly dental issues. By strengthening your child’s teeth and preventing cavities, fluoride treatments reduce the need for more extensive dental work in the future.

Fluoride treatments can strengthen your child’s tooth enamel and prevent cavities by up to 40%. Regular fluoride treatments provide an extra layer of protection against tooth decay.
